Chapter 24: Do You Hear Anything About the Forum?
The next day, a post appeared on the university’s forum, its bold, attention-grabbing headline making waves across the campus.
“Some beautiful new psychology teacher was only a high school graduate. Please let her get out of our school!”
It didn’t take long for everyone to start speculating about who the “beautiful new psychology teacher” could be. The timing was perfect, and Ainsley’s recent arrival to the university had already drawn attention. The post was enough to spark a massive stir.
The person behind the post had used an alternate account to remain anonymous, but the content of the message was enough to set the campus abuzz.
“The beautiful new psychology teacher didn’t even graduate from college, yet she’s teaching at our university. What methods did she use to get an intern job?”
Attached to the post was a screenshot of the official school website, showing a list of graduates. The list did not show Ainsley’s name, raising questions about her academic qualifications. According to the records, she had never completed her college studies, which meant she had only a high school diploma to her name.
“Based on these records, it can be seen that Ainsley has not graduated. Yet, she’s become a psychology teacher at our university. I don’t remember any precedent for special employment at our school, so I’m afraid she probably joined through improper means!”
The forum exploded with comments and speculation. What started as a few curious students quickly turned into a full-blown online frenzy.
“Is this news real or fake? I find it hard to believe that the beautiful teacher is just a high school graduate.”
“I checked the official website, and it’s true! There’s no graduation record for her.”
“Wait, are you telling me a high school graduate became a psychology teacher at our university? How is that possible?!”
“This is outrageous! I wonder if the school was pressured into hiring her because of her looks… Or maybe it was something else.”
“It’s so disgusting! She’s nothing but a pretty face. No qualifications, no real experience, just using her looks to get ahead.”
The accusations were harsh, and the whispers about Ainsley spread like wildfire. Students who had initially admired her now started to doubt her abilities and her presence at the university. The forum was flooded with posts, some mocking her, others questioning the integrity of the school’s hiring process.
In the midst of all this, Ainsley continued to go about her work. She was busy in the Psychological Counseling Room, organizing materials and reviewing student information. The room was hot and stuffy, so she had kept the door open for ventilation.
As she worked, she noticed a few students casually walking past her office, their eyes darting toward her, some even stopping to peek in. They were whispering to each other, their curiosity evident, though Ainsley chose not to react. She raised an eyebrow at their behavior but didn’t acknowledge them. She simply went back to her tasks, focusing on her work, trying not to let the noise outside disturb her.
By lunchtime, Ainsley decided to step out for her meeting with Serina. They had agreed to have lunch together in the canteen, a welcome break from the tension in the air.
As Ainsley arrived at the canteen, she spotted Serina immediately. The girl was walking toward her in a panic, her eyes glued to her phone. When she reached Ainsley, she whispered urgently, her voice laced with concern.
“Ainsley, do you hear anything about the forum?”
Ainsley’s heart skipped a beat. She had a sinking feeling that she already knew the answer. “What’s going on?” she asked, trying to sound casual, though her mind raced.
Serina bit her lip, glancing around before speaking again. “It’s all over the forum. They’re saying you’re just a high school graduate and that you shouldn’t even be working here as a teacher. There’s even talk about how you must’ve used some… ‘special methods’ to get the job.”
Ainsley took a deep breath, processing the words. The forum post had been more than just gossip—it was an outright attack. She had been hoping her presence at the university would be met with curiosity, not hostility. The thought of being scrutinized like this, having her qualifications questioned in front of everyone, made her blood run cold.
“Did you check the forum yourself?” Ainsley asked, trying to keep her tone even.
Serina nodded, her face filled with worry. “I did. It’s all true, Ainsley. There’s a screenshot of the school’s official website, showing that you haven’t graduated. Everyone’s talking about it, and they’re starting to doubt everything about you. I’m so sorry… I didn’t know it would get this bad.”
Ainsley swallowed, trying to keep her emotions in check. She could feel the weight of the situation bearing down on her. But one thing was clear: whoever had posted that information had done so with the intent to harm her.
“That’s ridiculous,” Ainsley said quietly, though her anger simmered beneath the surface. “It’s true that I didn’t graduate from a university, but that doesn’t mean I don’t have the right to be here. I have the qualifications for my job. This… this is just an attack.”
Serina looked at her with sympathy. “I know it’s unfair. But you’ve got to be careful. People love to gossip, and once it starts, it can be hard to stop it.”
Ainsley nodded. She knew that all too well. But this wasn’t just gossip—it was an outright smear campaign, and she wasn’t going to let it slide.
“Thank you for telling me, Serina,” Ainsley said, her voice steadying. “I’ll figure out what to do.”
As Serina sat down to eat with her, Ainsley’s mind began to work, plotting her next move. Whoever had posted that information had clearly underestimated her. She wasn’t going to let a forum post dictate her future.
Her time at the university had only just begun, and she wasn’t going to let anyone tear her down without a fight.
