Chapter 33: Make the Scotts and the Gibsons Go Bankrupt
“Don’t worry about my studies,” Wynter said, gently pushing Margaret’s wheelchair forward. “Just focus on taking care of yourself. Listen to Wolf and eat less sweets.”
Margaret muttered under her breath, “But how can you not study? I heard Yvette is excellent in her studies.”
Wynter chuckled. “Isn’t that great? Your granddaughter is smart like you.”
Margaret lifted her gaze, studying Wynter with a more serious expression. “What about you? What will you do in the future?”
Wynter smiled, her eyes glinting with a quiet confidence. “I can make money. I’ll survive.”
She knelt down and carefully removed Margaret’s shoes and socks, placing them neatly beside the chair. “Wolf, bring me a bucket of water.”
Wolf nodded without a word. With surprising speed and strength, he ran off to fill the bucket, returning just as quickly. He was small but strong, full of youthful energy.
Margaret watched him fondly. “Wolf just gets stronger and stronger but never grows taller. The day before yesterday, our neighbor bought a pair of lion statues but couldn’t move them. Wolf just went over and picked them up like they weighed nothing, without even flinching.”
Wynter lifted her head, her eyes narrowing slightly at the mention of the lion statues. Wolf, who had paused momentarily, quickly resumed his task, his expression unchanged.
Wynter chuckled softly, “He’s young. Naturally, he’s strong.”
Margaret raised an eyebrow. “But is that normal strength? It’s a bit scary. Susan next door nearly fainted when she saw it.”
Wynter glanced back at Margaret, her tone light but knowing. “You should be careful next time.”
Wolf nodded quietly, his eyes softening under her gaze.
Margaret sighed, her gaze distant. “I’m just… confused. You’re still attending college, right? It’s hard to get into a university, you know. Maybe I should—”
“Grandma.” Wynter interrupted her with a reassuring smile. “There’s no need. I’ll take care of it myself.”
Margaret had raised Wynter since she was a child, and she knew better than anyone that Wynter wasn’t one to boast or seek help unless she truly needed it. Realizing there was no convincing her, Margaret let out a small sigh, deciding instead to reconnect with her old social circle over the weekend.
After Margaret had soaked her feet and gone to bed, Wynter finally left the room. Standing in the hallway, Wolf made a series of quick gestures, his hands moving fluidly.
“I know,” Wynter replied in a calm voice. “You go to sleep. I’ll find a way to get the Zenith herb and the book back.”
Wanda had gone too far, taking things that didn’t belong to her. It was one thing to act recklessly, but taking the Zenith herb… that felt like more than just a careless mistake. Someone had clearly directed her actions.
Wynter’s eyes turned cold, the anger brewing beneath her calm exterior. She had suspected the Gibsons were behind this. They had always been a thorn in her side, and now they were playing dirty, using Wanda to get what they wanted. If banning the Gibson family from certain circles wasn’t enough to curb their arrogance, then it was time to turn the tables.
The night breeze stirred, and the locust flowers in the courtyard fluttered gently to the ground. Wynter picked one up, its delicate petals sweet to the taste as she placed it in her mouth, savoring its flavor.
Wolf stood quietly beside her, his eyes curious as he watched her smile.
After a long silence, Wynter’s low voice broke the stillness. “Autumn’s coming. Let’s make the Gibson and Scott families go bankrupt.”
Wolf’s eyes widened in surprise. But rather than shock, there was excitement in his gaze. He had been waiting for this—finally, a chance to cause some real disruption. He leaned forward, his face lighting up with mischief, as though he had been waiting for an excuse to wreak havoc.
His hands flew through a rapid series of gestures, his lips curving into a sly grin as he plotted.
Wynter watched him with a faint smile, then flicked her fingers in the air. “I haven’t let you out for a long time. You must be bored.”
Wolf nodded enthusiastically, his eyes gleaming with anticipation.
“Go ahead,” Wynter continued. “I want to know all the corrupt transactions and illegal surgeries the Gibson family has been involved in over the past few years. You have three days. I’ll make them pay back every penny they’ve defrauded from people. As for the Scott family, you can handle them.”
Wolf gave a quick hum in acknowledgment, and without another word, he grabbed a laptop from the nearby table.
Who could have guessed that this 11-year-old mute boy, seemingly innocent with his quiet demeanor, was actually the notorious hacker L, responsible for paralyzing the entire online banking system three years ago? He had the skills, the knowledge, and now, a purpose. The Gibsons and the Scotts were about to learn just how dangerous it was to cross Wynter.
