Chapter 94: No More Treating the Quinnells
Ryan froze, his eyes wide. “Wynter, am I… am I alright?”
Wynter withdrew her hand, her expression cool and calm. “You should relax. Pay attention to your sleep, your diet, and make sure to go to the hospital for a proper check-up. You should be able to treat it.”
It was ironic. Ryan had originally brought Wynter here to help Naomi, yet it was he who needed medical attention.
Wynter stood tall and composed, a vision of effortless beauty. She had changed into a black shirt before stepping out—simple yet elegant, with a slender figure and a face that exuded a cold, almost dangerous aura.
Fiona, who had just arrived, immediately took in Wynter’s appearance. A flicker of disdain crossed her features. The girl was too beautiful, too aggressive in her demeanor. Fiona felt an instant unease.
As they got closer, the bodyguard introduced her. “This is Dr. Genius, Ms. Young. Please explain Ms. Naomi’s condition to her.”
“Explain?” Fiona scoffed, a sarcastic smile tugging at her lips. “Who are you?”
She scrutinized Wynter, her distaste apparent despite her attempt to mask it. She had heard of a doctor with outstanding skills, one who had been praised by Fabian. But looking at this girl—so young, dressed in what appeared to be a cheap street-bought T-shirt—Fiona couldn’t help but doubt her credibility.
Wynter saw through Fiona’s thoughts immediately. Her expression grew colder, and she chose not to respond.
Fiona bristled. She had been with the Quinnells for years, always respected and held in high regard. To her, this girl was nothing more than a nuisance.
“You—”
Before Fiona could continue, Ryan stepped forward, positioning himself between them. “Ms. Young, where is Ms. Naomi? Let Dr. Genius treat her first.”
Fiona’s eyes narrowed. “Mr. Lloyd, who do you think Ms. Naomi is? Do you think any random girl can treat her?”
Ryan, usually patient and polite, frowned deeply. “Ms. Young, please mind your words. I invited Dr. Genius here personally.”
Fiona’s tone sharpened. “I just heard you call her Wynter.”
A sudden realization seemed to hit her. “Mr. Lloyd, are you trying to fool Mr. Quinnell Senior by using your friend? I’ve been with the Quinnells for years, and they’ve treated me well. I won’t stand for anyone taking advantage of them!”
Ryan’s frustration grew. Sweat beaded on his forehead from the stress. “You—”
“What?” Fiona cut him off, her voice cold. “You talk the most nonsense when you’re with Mr. Quinnell Senior! Ms. Quinnell has been missing for years, and yet you keep saying you have information about her! Where is she? You still haven’t found her, have you? And now, you’ve caused Mr. Quinnell Senior to fall ill… and bring your friend here for treatment? What are you trying to do?”
Ryan was boiling with anger, his thoughts spinning, but he knew Fiona’s position. She was the senior housekeeper of the Quinnells, someone who had served the family for decades. He couldn’t argue with her without risking everything.
Fiona looked at Wynter with an air of superiority. “Just wait. Ms. Naomi will see you after she finishes her meal.”
Wynter’s lips curled into a small, mocking smile. She chewed her gum casually, her eyes gleaming with indifference. “No need. I’ll never treat the Quinnells again.”
The words hit Ryan and the bodyguard like a splash of cold water. Both of them exchanged anxious glances.
Fiona sneered. “Little girl, who do you think you are? People are lining up to treat the Quinnells. Do you really think you, a doctor from some small town, can just threaten the Quinnells like that?”
