Justin escorted Rosalind into his office, the eyes of everyone following their every move.
As soon as the door closed behind them, Rosalind immediately burst into tears and threw herself into Justin’s arms, clinging tightly to his waist.
“Justin, I’m so glad you came to pick me up.
I was really scared just now…”
Justin’s expression darkened.
His hands rose to gently place themselves on her shoulders, pushing her away slowly.
“Justin…” Rosalind looked at him in confusion, a glimmer of worry in her eyes.
“Why did you do this?” Justin’s voice was cold, his eyes filled with intensity.
“Do what?” Rosalind asked, still not understanding.
“Why did you go to Savrow Daily to expose our marital news?” Justin’s voice was firm, cutting through her confusion.
Rosalind exhaled silently in relief, her hands wrapping around him again.
“Because I can’t wait to marry you.
Do you not want to marry me?”
“I want to, but releasing the news like this is inappropriate,” Justin’s tone was serious, his expression hardening.
He was no longer the gentle person he had been with her before.
“Why is it inappropriate? You and Anna are already divorced!” Rosalind’s voice quivered in frustration.
“We haven’t finalized the divorce yet.
We promised Grandpa that we wouldn’t do it until after his 80th birthday,” Justin’s voice remained calm, though the tension in the room was rising.
Justin unconsciously pulled back from Rosalind, his thoughts weighed down by the situation.
“Before that happens, Anna is still my wife in name.
Now that you’ve exposed our marital news, it affects all three parties involved.
Grandpa will be even more against you now.
”
Justin’s direct nature meant he always weighed the consequences of his actions.
He had been gentle with Rosalind before, but now, his words were harsher because he assumed she would understand the gravity of the situation.
But Rosalind, her eyes red with anger, failed to grasp his reasoning.
“Three parties will be affected? Justin, do you feel uncomfortable when you see people criticizing Anna as the third party? Do you feel sorry for her?!”
“I don’t.
But Anna isn’t the third party.
This situation shouldn’t have happened this way,” Justin pinched the bridge of his nose, a headache beginning to form.
“Why not? She clearly came between us!” Rosalind’s voice grew shrill, her frustration boiling over as she stomped her foot, each word cutting through the air like a knife.
“If it weren’t for her, I would’ve been with you! It’s all her fault! She took my place for three whole years!”
“Anna was only my wife in name for those three years, to appease Grandpa.
Without her, you and I would never have been together,” Justin replied, his voice strained.
As soon as the words left his mouth, his chest tightened.
He knew it was true.
If Anna hadn’t honored the three-year contract marriage, his grandfather would never have allowed him to be with Rosalind.
For three years, Anna had quietly fulfilled her duties as his wife, greeting him with a smile when he came home, heating his bath water, taking care of everything so he wouldn’t have to worry.
There were no fights, no tears.
Even after she signed the divorce papers and left Tideview Manor, she didn’t complain.
Even though Anna had ultimately chosen to be with Asher, she had been a good wife during their marriage.
Justin, on the other hand, had only used her to get closer to Rosalind.
All he had hoped for was the end of the contract so he could be with someone else.
In the end, he realized he owed Anna far more than she owed him.
“Justin, are you siding with that woman now?” Rosalind’s voice wavered, her eyes wide with disbelief.
She could no longer understand what Justin was thinking.
“No, I’m just stating facts,” Justin said, his voice flat, trying to remain calm despite the turmoil inside.
At that moment, the phone rang.
Justin checked the caller ID—it was his grandfather.
He frowned, already feeling the weight of the conversation to come.
He opened the door to find Ian waiting outside.
“Ian, get more bodyguards to escort Ms.
Gold home,” Justin ordered, his tone clipped.
“Yes, Mr.
Salvador,” Ian replied, gesturing for Rosalind to walk ahead.
“Justin! I don’t want to go back… I’m so scared!” Rosalind’s voice quivered with emotion as she held onto his hand tightly, her eyes filled with tears.
“Don’t be scared,” Justin reassured her, though his own frustration was growing.
“Just don’t comment on anything the reporters say.
I’ll take care of the rest.
”
With that, Justin ushered her out of the room, closing the door behind him.
He answered his grandfather’s call, bracing himself for the storm that was about to hit.
“Hi, Grandpa.
”
“Justin! How dare you break your promise to me? Are you so eager to.
