Bella’s eyes were cold, yet determined.
“It seems that Rosalind has taken such good care of you that you’ve become more thick-skinned.
“
“This is between us.
Don’t drag anyone else into it,” Justin’s voice was full of anger, his chest rising with frustration.
“If you don’t want me to say anything unpleasant, stay away from me.
I don’t want anything to do with you except for finalizing our divorce.
Goodbye, Mr.
Salvador.
“
Justin was stunned.
He was used to Anna’s bright, eager eyes, but now, seeing her cold stare sent a chill through him.
It was as though he had been thrown into an ice cave, and all warmth around him disappeared.
“I won’t let you leave!” he declared firmly, his grip tightening around her arm.
Bella parted her lips slightly and sneered.
“Who the hell are you to let me do things? Am I your pet dog? Why should I listen to you?” Her voice was sharp with disdain.
“You don’t have to belittle yourself like that.
I don’t think of you as my dog,” Justin said, frowning in displeasure.
“Belittle myself? Haha! Justin, are you stupid or naive? Can’t you hear what I mean? I hate you, so stop pestering me!” Bella’s eyes were filled with anger.
She wanted to pull her arm away, but Justin’s grip was relentless.
“Ouch.
.
.
” Bella hissed in pain, her left hand instinctively holding her forearm as a thin layer of sweat broke out on her forehead.
Realizing something was wrong, Justin immediately let go of her, his gaze falling on her wrist.
His palm was bloody from where he had grabbed her earlier.
“I’ll take you to the infirmary to bandage it now,” Justin said, his voice suddenly much softer, filled with guilt.
“Leave now, or I’ll call the police,” Bella snapped, stepping back in frustration.
“Anna.
.
.
” His voice was pained.
“Get lost!” Bella shouted, unable to hold back anymore.
Her heart was heavy, the pain of the past weighing on her.
They had been married for three years, and yet Justin had ignored her completely, never once touching her, never once showing affection.
Now, after their divorce, he continued to haunt her, demanding her attention.
How ironic was that?
Justin was frozen in place when Bella yelled at him.
His handsome face was like stone, unable to hide the shock and hurt his soul felt.
“You want me to get lost? Why didn’t you say this when you insisted on marrying me?” His words were cold, biting.
“Because I loved you back then,” Bella’s voice cracked, her eyes filled with unshed tears as she laughed bitterly.
Justin’s heart wrenched.
He could feel the weight of her words, and the pain behind them hit him like a punch in the chest.
He had taken her love for granted, and now that it was gone, he was left with nothing but regret.
“When I loved you, you could do anything to me.
Now that I don’t love you anymore, all my tolerance for you is gone.
Did you think you could still enjoy the benefits I provided after our divorce? No, Justin.
I don’t love you.
You’re worthless to me,” Bella spat, her voice cold as ice.
Her chin lifted in defiance as she turned to walk away.
She was done.
“Anna, if it weren’t for Grandpa, do you think I’d even bother looking for you? Do you know how much Grandpa misses you? He’s been desperately trying to contact you.
” Justin’s voice was full of hurt, but also a plea.
Bella took a deep breath, clenching her fists as her heart squeezed.
Grandpa Nigel—he was the one person who had always been there for her, the one constant in her life.
And it was because of him that Bella had agreed to marry Justin in the first place.
But now, that promise she had made to him was like an unbreakable bond.
“I didn’t go back on my promise.
I will find the time to visit Grandpa in the next two days,” she said through clenched teeth, trying to keep the tears at bay.
“Now,” Justin demanded, his voice firm and insistent.
“What?” Bella looked at him, confused.
“Come with me to see Grandpa now.
He hasn’t had a good night’s sleep in five days.
He won’t eat, won’t do anything unless you see him.
” Justin’s urgency was palpable.
Bella’s chest tightened as her mind raced.
She had promised Grandpa Nigel, and she couldn’t go back on her word.
Despite everything that had happened, Grandpa’s well-being was still her responsibility.
But the thought of seeing Justin again, after all the pain he had caused her, filled her with reluctance.
“I don’t want to go with you,” she said, her voice shaking.
“I’m not doing this for you, Justin.
I’m doing it for Grandpa.
“
Justin’s gaze softened just a fraction, but he was relentless.
“Then stop being so difficult.
Grandpa is asking for you, and you know how important he is to me.
You owe him this much.
“
Bella’s heart wavered.
She couldn’t ignore the bond she had with Grandpa, and no matter how much Justin hurt her, she would never abandon him.
With a sigh, she nodded.
“Fine.
I’ll go with you.
But don’t think this changes anything between us.
“
“Good,” Justin said, his tone softening, his expression one of quiet relief.
They walked out of the hotel together, side by side, but the air between them was thick with unspoken words.
Bella’s mind was a whirlwind of emotions—hurt, anger, and confusion.
She couldn’t ignore the growing ache in her chest every time she glanced at Justin.
There was too much history between them, too many broken pieces, and she wasn’t sure if they would ever be able to heal.
For now, though, her priority was Grandpa Nigel.
Everything else could wait.
