Justin stood in front of Bella, his gaze cold as he observed the two streaks of tears on her delicate face.
She looked so beautiful and vulnerable, like morning dew on flowers, making her seem both pitiful and enchanting at the same time.
Bella flushed with embarrassment, her cheeks turning a soft shade of red as a tear fell from her long lashes, further tugging at Justin’s already conflicted heart.
“Why me? She didn’t cry because of me,” Justin muttered, looking perplexed.
He glanced at his grandfather, who was growing increasingly agitated.
Nigel glared at him, his voice laced with frustration, “Because Anna is your wife! Do you want an old man like me to help you coax her? Are you stupid?”
Bella, her voice soft with sadness, murmured, “Grandpa, Justin and I are divorced.
I’m not…”
“It doesn’t matter!” Nigel interjected firmly, his tone almost scolding.
“An ex-wife is still a wife in my book! He owes you an apology for all those years!”
His face darkened at the mention of the divorce, clearly upset by the situation, and he added with a stern look, “If you don’t apologize to Anna today, don’t call me Grandpa!”
Justin, his lips pressed tight, let out a heavy sigh and muttered, “I’m sorry.
”
Bella, her eyes reddened from crying, looked up at him.
Her heart trembled.
This was the first time Justin had ever apologized to her, but there was no sincerity in his voice.
“Bow in apology!” Nigel commanded.
Justin raised his brows in disbelief, “Is that really necessary?”
“I’m being kind enough to not make you kneel on broken glass like I did when I apologized to your grandma.
You need to show sincerity!” Nigel’s voice was firm.
“Anna is my heart and soul.
I won’t allow you to treat her lightly.
Hurry up!”
Cornered, Justin took a deep breath, lowered his eyes, and reluctantly bowed.
“I’m sorry, Ms.
Brown.
Please accept my sincere apology.
”
Seeing this, Nigel’s eyes sparkled with excitement, his lips curling up as though he were watching a dramatic scene unfold.
He was enjoying the sight far too much.
Bella, flushed from the attention, couldn’t help but feel a sense of triumph.
She was secretly glad to see Justin bowing to her, even if it wasn’t out of genuine remorse.
As Justin prepared to straighten up, Nigel added, “Keep this posture until Anna tells you to get up.
Don’t you dare straighten your back!”
The seconds seemed to drag on, and Bella didn’t respond.
Justin’s patience started to wear thin, and he could feel the veins on his forehead throbbing from the humiliation.
He thought to himself, This woman is clearly taking advantage of me!
Just when he was about to snap, Bella sniffled and, in a soft voice, said, “Grandpa, this isn’t Justin’s fault to begin with.
Don’t embarrass him.
