Bella was not someone to be underestimated.
With a fierce determination in her voice, she spoke, “Listen carefully.
From this moment on, Rosalind and I are enemies.
If I ever go back on my word, I’ll be destroyed, just like this bracelet.
” Bella clenched her teeth as she slowly opened her hand, revealing her bloody palms and the shattered pieces of the jade bracelet.
Justin’s chest tightened as he saw her injury.
He could see that Bella had been holding the broken bracelet, probably not even noticing that her hand was bleeding.
His emotions churned, a twinge of guilt and confusion tugging at him as he stared at her face, filled with resentment.
His heart cracked slightly at the sight.
“Ms.
Brown! Your hands are bleeding!” Ryan exclaimed urgently.
He started searching through his pockets for anything to help, but his search was fruitless.
He couldn’t find a handkerchief or tissue.
Justin, too, had a handkerchief in his breast pocket, but as he reached for it, he hesitated, unable to bring himself to give it to her.
The tension in the air was thick.
Suddenly, a delicate fragrance filled the room, and a graceful figure in a dark green dress passed by.
Bella froze for a moment when she realized it was Mila.
Without a word, Mila walked over to her, gently picking up the broken jade pieces from Bella’s hand and placing them into her suit pocket.
She then carefully wrapped Bella’s injured palm with a white handkerchief.
Bella’s eyes welled up with tears as she almost called out Mila’s name but bit her lip, holding back the emotion.
“It’s a shame such a beautiful hand is wounded,” Mila said, her calm demeanor betraying the fury that burned within her.
She wanted nothing more than to tear the Salvador family apart for what they had done.
“Long time no see, Mrs.
Thompson.
You’re more beautiful than ever,” Shannon immediately greeted Mila, her face changing in an instant.
She tried to be familiar, but her tone was forced.
“How are you, Mrs.
Thompson?” Jean also greeted her, though her smile was far more calculated, an attempt to flatter Mila.
Mila, the second wife of Wyatt Thompson, was well-known in society.
After his first wife passed away, Mila was regarded as the legitimate Mrs.
Thompson, and everyone knew her to be a woman of wealth and noble birth, the youngest daughter of the Larson family.
Even though she had distanced herself from her family to be with Wyatt, her status was unshakeable.
Jean and Shannon, no matter how much they tried, could never compare.
Mila didn’t want to waste time with small talk, especially with people like Jean.
She simply acknowledged Shannon and ignored Jean, making her presence felt without saying much.
Jean’s face stiffened in embarrassment, realizing that Mila hadn’t even greeted her.
“Mrs.
Thompson, do you know Ms.
Brown?” Shannon asked, sensing the connection between Mila and Bella and wanting to dig deeper.
She was testing Mila’s reaction, unsure of the nature of their relationship.
“Ms.
Brown came to the auction in place of Mr.
Thompson.
She spent quite a bit of money, so I’m sure you noticed her.
”
Mila, fully aware of Shannon’s ulterior motives, smiled cryptically.
“Of course, I know her.
Asher invited her here.
”
Shannon didn’t take the hint and pressed on.
“Then you must not know Ms.
Brown very well, right?”
“Do I need to know her well?” Mila’s smile was polite but her eyes remained sharp, her true thoughts concealed.
Shannon, unwilling to let the opportunity slip away, added, “I think it’s necessary.
Ms.
Brown will soon be the wife of KS Group’s CEO.
She’ll be family then.
”
Mila raised an eyebrow, her gaze never leaving Shannon.
“Oh? Is Ms.
Brown Asher’s girlfriend?”
Shannon nodded with a smile, clearly enjoying the drama she was creating.
“Yes.
After Ms.
Brown and Justin got divorced, she left the house in Mr.
Thompson’s car.
I was worried for her, you know? She’s just a country girl with no family here in Richworth.
What would happen to her without Justin? But then I saw Mr.
Thompson take care of her, and I felt relieved.
”
Mila’s clear eyes narrowed slightly, as though sizing up Shannon’s every word.
She could tell that there was more to this conversation than Shannon was letting on.
