Bella carried her marriage license with her, ready to finalize her divorce from Justin at any moment.
This time, however, the license served as proof of her current legal marriage to him, leaving everyone around them speechless.
Shannon and Jean were left with nothing to say.
They were suddenly aware that, despite all their schemes, Bella and Justin were still legally married.
Continuing to speak would only embarrass them further.
“Now, everyone can decide for themselves who’s the third party in our relationship,” Bella said calmly, putting the marriage license away as she walked off.
The stunned crowd could only watch in silence as she left.
Rosalind, standing behind, was left in a mixture of shame and fury.
The auction was about to begin, and the distinguished guests were settling into their seats.
Shannon and Bethany took their places in the third row.
As soon as they entered, Bethany’s eyes were immediately fixed on Ryan.
“He’s so handsome…” she murmured.
Shannon let out an indignant snort.
“Don’t worry, I’ll find a way to get you close to Mr.
Hoffman.
You’re talented, beautiful, and better than most girls.
Mr.
Hoffman will definitely fall for you.
” Despite Ryan’s reputation for promiscuity in Savrow, Shannon was determined to marry her daughter to him.
After all, Bethany liked him, so it seemed like a perfect match.
“Mom, Justin and Ryan are best friends.
Can’t you talk to him and have him set us up?” Bethany asked eagerly.
Shannon’s expression darkened.
She had already asked Justin, but he had refused to help.
“Where’s Carrie?” she asked, changing the topic.
“She must be hiding again.
Why do you even insist on bringing her? She always sulks in front of the cameras and wanders off.
She’s embarrassing!” Bethany complained, clearly annoyed with her younger sister.
Shannon sighed.
“You know she has her issues.
She’s 20 now, and I’m trying to get her out more.
If someone takes a liking to her and is willing to marry her, I’ll marry her off as soon as possible.
That’ll ease my worries.
Shannon’s words carried a hint of finality, as if she was trying to get rid of her daughter as soon as possible.
Meanwhile, Rosalind and Jean felt increasingly isolated.
Although they were dressed in their finest clothes, they had been seated in the least conspicuous seats at the back of the venue.
“Mom! Justin’s in the front row! I want to sit next to him!” Rosalind pouted, attempting to walk toward Justin.
But before she could take a step, a bodyguard blocked her path.
“I’m sorry, Ms.
Gold, but all seats here are fixed.
You can’t swap seats.
“Why not? Do you know who I am?” Rosalind huffed, raising her chin arrogantly.
The bodyguard remained unphased.
“I’m aware.
You’re Mr.
Salvador’s girlfriend.
However, these seats were personally arranged by the chairman of the Hoffman Group.
You can’t change them, even if you’re Mr.
Salvador’s wife.
Rosalind, stunned into silence, glared at the bodyguard.
She had no response.
Jean, seeing her daughter’s frustration, pulled her back to their seats.
“That’s enough.
It’s just a seat.
Don’t embarrass yourself,” she murmured, her own irritation simmering beneath her calm facade.
From a distance, Jean noticed Shannon and Bethany sitting in the front row, talking and laughing, completely disregarding her and Rosalind.
Jean couldn’t help but seethe inwardly.
Shannon had always been like this, always trying to outshine her in every way.
Despite promising to help Jean and Rosalind shine tonight, Shannon’s words had proven to be empty.
The venue was almost full now, except for Asher’s seat, which remained unoccupied.
Justin glanced at the seat briefly, then quickly looked away.
“Hmm? Why hasn’t he arrived yet?” Justin wondered, his thoughts momentarily distracted.
