Ian had to cover his mouth tightly to prevent himself from bursting into laughter, nearly choking in the process.
Justin, feeling a surge of anger, tried to remain composed.
He turned to Ryan and said coolly, “There’s no chance Anna and I will have a future together.
And I will never be so shameless as to take back the divorce.
” Ryan raised an eyebrow but didn’t call him out.
Instead, he smoothly changed the subject.
“Anything in particular you’re hoping to get from today’s auction?” he asked.
Justin replied without hesitation, “The antique rosewood chair.
” He had already decided it would make the perfect birthday gift for his grandfather.
“Good choice!” Ryan remarked.
“I’ll make sure no one outbids you.
”
Justin shook his head lightly.
“No need.
This is a charity auction.
If that chair is meant to be mine, no one will be able to take it from me.
But if I win it, I want it to be because it’s meant to be, not because I fought for it.
”
The two men entered the venue, making their way toward the first row of seats—reserved for the truly elite.
As they walked, heads turned.
Both Justin and Ryan were tall and striking, quickly attracting the attention of the room.
The women were especially taken with Justin.
“Mr.
Salvador is so handsome! He’s my ideal type!” one woman whispered excitedly.
Her friend replied, “Ideal type? You should give up.
Don’t you know Mr.
Salvador is marrying Ms.
Gold?”
“What? The Gold family that sells low-quality furniture? They don’t even deserve to be in the same room as Mr.
Salvador! Is he blind?”
“Oh, that’s just his childhood sweetheart, Rosalind Gold.
He divorced his ex-wife just to marry her.
Do you seriously think you stand a chance?”
“Poor ex-wife.
Look at her pretending to be so grand.
Mr.
Salvador will get tired of her in two years, I bet.
”
Justin, seated with a chilled demeanor, exuded an air that kept everyone at a distance.
As he glanced around the room, his eyes caught a chair marked “Asher Thompson” across the aisle.
His lips pressed into a thin line as a frown appeared on his face.
Ryan, noticing Justin’s reaction, leaned in and whispered, “I know it’s irritating.
My grandfather reserved these seats well in advance, so I couldn’t move anything around.
But these seats? They’re for the big names in Savrow.
You’ll just have to put up with Asher Thompson, who’s sitting across from you.
He’s the eldest son of Wyatt Thompson, the president of KS Group.
The Hoffman family can’t afford to take sides between you two giants.
So just bear with it.
”
Meanwhile, outside the venue, Shannon and Jean were mingling with other elite women.
Bethany and Rosalind were also standing together, pretending to be close.
But one of the family members was notably missing—Carrie, Shannon’s youngest daughter.
“Where’s Carrie? Is she missing?” Rosalind asked, noticing her absence.
Bethany’s face twisted with frustration.
“It doesn’t matter what she’s up to, as long as she doesn’t die.
”
“Don’t say that about your own sister,” Rosalind pretended to be kind, trying to calm Bethany.
“I wish I didn’t have such an embarrassing sister,” Bethany grumbled, growing angrier.
Rosalind secretly smiled to herself.
This was the perfect way to create division between the two sisters.
She couldn’t risk them ganging up on her after she married Justin.
Just then, the sound of confident footsteps drew everyone’s attention.
They turned in unison and saw Bella entering the room.
Bella was dressed in a sleek black suit paired with towering heels.
Her lips were painted a striking red, and her presence commanded attention.
Bella’s effortless elegance completely outshone Rosalind and Bethany.
As she walked in, the other women couldn’t help but notice how she stole the spotlight, making Rosalind and Bethany seem like an afterthought.
