The senior executives were caught off guard when they realized their gossip about the new boss had been overheard.
“That’s absurd! Ms.
Thompson is the legitimate daughter of the Thompson family! What are they thinking?!” Steven Lovett, Asher’s secretary, was furious in the passenger seat.
“Being ‘legitimate’ or ‘illegitimate’ doesn’t matter.
We’re no longer in the Middle Ages! Why are you so worked up, Steve?” Bella narrowed her bright eyes and pinched Steven’s cheek, making his face turn bright red.
“Bella, you’re the future CEO of KS Group.
Will you act like it? Stop harassing Steve,” Asher said with a frown.
Bella clicked her tongue.
“What’s wrong with that? No one cares when a male boss teases a female secretary!” She added, “Besides, it’s his honor that I touch him.
”
Asher shook his head, watching his sister with a doting smile.
The Thompson siblings entered the hotel, surrounded by senior executives.
Michael Gordon, the hotel’s vice president, led them to the VIP elevator.
But Bella suddenly stopped him.
“I want to see the restaurant first.
”
Bella wasted no time and immediately started her inspection.
Michael, nervous but obedient, led them to the restaurant.
Asher, always the supportive brother, stayed in the background, letting Bella take the reins.
The restaurant was empty, as it was before opening hours, but the waiters were already placing dishes on the counter.
Bella’s sharp eyes quickly scanned the food before landing on the live seafood section.
She rolled up her sleeves, reached into a small aquarium, and expertly pulled out a dead shrimp from among hundreds.
“Explain,” she demanded.
Michael hesitated.
“It’s not dead…”
Bella raised an eyebrow and smirked.
“If it’s not dead, why don’t you eat it?”
“There are so many shrimp in this aquarium.
A few dead ones are inevitable,” Michael stammered.
Bella’s smile faded.
“It’s normal for shrimp to die in an aquarium, but do you think it’s acceptable for a customer to eat a dead shrimp and get food poisoning?”
Her tone was serious.
“There are 356 shrimp in this aquarium.
I counted five dead and at least 30 half-dead.
If I were a customer, I’d never step foot in this hotel again.
”
She added sternly, “Check all the ingredients in the seafood section immediately and replace the supplier.
If I see another dead shrimp tomorrow, I’ll make sure you eat them in front of me.
”
Michael was so rattled that his legs wobbled.
The other senior executives looked on in shock.
Only Asher and Steven knew about Bella’s photographic memory, a skill she had once used to help solve a major criminal case.
Counting shrimp was nothing for her.
After the seafood section, they moved on to the guest rooms.
Bella asked Steven for a white handkerchief, which she used to wipe down the walls and picture frames.
“The cleaning isn’t thorough.
There’s still dust on the surfaces.
It needs to be redone,” she said calmly.
Some of the senior executives were secretly complaining, but Bella could sense their discontent.
“I know you’re all secretly cursing me, thinking I’m making a fuss over nothing, right?” she said, her voice calm but firm.
“Our hotel has been around for a century.
It’s the details that get overlooked.
If the star rating committee does an inspection, these two issues alone could cost us our star!”
She gave Steven a pointed look, and he immediately understood her intentions.
“Open the door to this guest room,” he instructed in a deep voice.
The head of housekeeping arrived to open the door, visibly nervous.
In the past, executives were shown only two sample rooms, but this new boss was unpredictable.
Bella walked into the guest room, inspecting the bathroom first.
Then, she walked into the bedroom and sat on the bed.
Her delicate face darkened, though she didn’t say anything.
Her displeasure was clear.
