Chapter 20
Norah quickly backpedaled, forcing a smile onto her face.
“Of course not, I’m just worried about the situation.
You know how powerful the Woods family is.”
Nicole’s gaze was sharp, sensing her sister’s true intentions.
“It doesn’t matter,” she replied coolly, “if they try anything, they’ll regret it.”
Raine, sensing the growing tension, tried to intervene with a softer tone.
“Nicole, you really should be more careful.
There are consequences when you challenge people like Austin.
You can’t always rely on luck.”
Nicole’s lips curled into a faint, confident smile.
“I don’t need luck, Raine.
I handle things my own way.”
The room fell silent for a moment, with Daniel and Gloria exchanging worried glances.
They knew their daughter’s temper well, but this situation was far from simple.
“Nicole,” Daniel finally spoke, his voice stern but concerned, “I want you to stay calm.
The Woods family is not someone we can take lightly.”
Nicole nodded, though her expression didn’t change.
“I’ll handle it, Dad.
Don’t worry about me.”
The determination in her voice made it clear she wasn’t going to back down, no matter what.
Snow and Raine exchanged an unreadable look, while Norah’s jealousy continued to simmer beneath the surface.
“Well, we can only hope you’re right,” Snow said, her voice polite but carrying an underlying tension.
“But we’ll see how this plays out.”
Nicole wasn’t interested in their concerns.
Her mind was already set.
The Woods family wouldn’t scare her, and if they thought they could intimidate her, they were gravely mistaken.
