Chapter 41
“Could she be a heroine from a hidden world like in those action movies?”
“Nicole is so much more skillful than those heroines.”
As the conversation heated up, their voices grew louder, drawing the attention of the entire class.
Nicole frowned slightly and said, “Fighting isn’t something to be proud of.
Let’s keep it low.”
Bradley and Lulu realized they were getting too loud.
As Nicole had pointed out, fighting wasn’t something they should be boasting about, especially if a teacher overheard them.
They nodded in understanding and pretended to zip their mouths, signaling they wouldn’t bring it up again.
Seeing them behave sensibly, Nicole’s expression softened a little.
Just as she was about to speak, a loud voice rang out from outside the classroom.
Suddenly, Austin stormed in, making the whole class freeze in fear at his fierce demeanor.
As soon as Austin spotted Nicole, he rushed over and shouted, “Boss! I heard that the hooligans from next door, Cain, disturbed you yesterday after school.
Why didn’t you tell us? We could’ve handled him for you!”
The students around them stared at Austin in disbelief.
They hadn’t expected him to take his role as Nicole’s “boss” so seriously.
When Austin said he wanted to confront Cain, everyone assumed Nicole would accept his offer, especially since no one could deny Austin’s request.
However, to everyone’s surprise, Nicole coldly replied, “It’s fine.
I can settle this on my own.”
Nicole had rejected Austin again.
All eyes were on Austin, waiting to see whether he would walk away like last time or retaliate to maintain his reputation.
Gary, too, was observing the situation carefully.
Despite the rejection, Austin acted as though nothing had happened.
He insisted, “No way! You’re my boss, yet Cain had the guts to disturb you.
He has disrespected me! I, Austin, would never let my boss be bullied.
I’ll bring my men and teach him a lesson now!”
The entire class was stunned.
They now had a clearer understanding of Nicole’s influence over Austin.
Ignoring Austin’s words, Nicole continued to focus on her book, unfazed by his outburst.
Austin, on the other hand, turned to his lackeys, shouting, “Someone bullied our boss.
We need to show them who the real boss is!”
His followers enthusiastically echoed him, “Yeah! Show them who’s the real boss!”
With that, Austin and his group left the classroom, leaving the students to breathe a sigh of relief.
Nicole, still absorbed in her book, didn’t notice that Gary had been watching her intently the whole time.
The bell rang, signaling the start of class.
Ms.
Emerson entered, quickly scanning the class to check for any absences.
Once satisfied, she began the lesson.
Ten minutes before recess, Ms.
Emerson glanced at her watch and tapped the podium to get everyone’s attention.
“There’s going to be a Maths Olympiad soon.
This competition is highly regarded by the district, and the principal has made it mandatory for each class to send two representatives.
Gary is already one of them.
There’s one slot left.
Any takers?”
Gary leaned back in his chair lazily, clearly uninterested in the competition.
