Chapter 90
the whip’s tail narrowly miss his face.
His heart skipped a beat, still racing from the shock of nearly being struck.
He stood there for a moment, trying to process the situation, his gaze locked on Nicole.
She was standing with a whip in hand, a focused and determined expression on her face, as if the whole encounter had been nothing but a minor interruption to her training.
Harvey, however, felt as if time had momentarily stopped.
With a deep breath, he composed himself and took a step back, his calm demeanor returning.
“I didn’t mean to intrude,” he said smoothly, his voice carrying that usual charm, but with a slight hint of curiosity.
“I didn’t expect to find anyone here.”
Nicole, still irritated but more composed now, loosened her grip on the whip, though her eyes remained sharp.
“You should watch where you’re going,” she retorted.
“I’m not a circus performer; this isn’t a place for random wanderers.”
Harvey raised an eyebrow at her bluntness.
He had encountered many people during his life, but this girl was unlike anyone he had met before.
She wasn’t impressed by his presence, nor was she intimidated by him.
He found that intriguing, if not a bit refreshing.
“Fair enough,” Harvey replied, his gaze studying her with renewed interest.
“I didn’t mean to disturb your…
training.”
Nicole gave him a pointed look before she turned back to her whip, ready to continue.
She hadn’t asked for an audience, but her attention was now divided between the unfamiliar presence and her training.
There was something about Harvey that didn’t sit quite right, but she couldn’t place it just yet.
Harvey, sensing her dismissal, took a few steps back.
His curiosity, however, remained piqued.
He couldn’t remember ever encountering someone like her, someone so effortlessly skilled, and yet, so unaffected by his reputation.
His thoughts were racing.
Could she be the one he had been hearing about? The mysterious figure everyone seemed to be talking about?
He watched her for a moment longer, then with a quick glance, he turned and started walking back down the hill.
However, as he did, his thoughts were far from the peaceful stroll he had intended.
The encounter had stirred something in him, and he knew he wouldn’t be able to shake the feeling of curiosity for long.
As he walked, he reflected on what had just happened.
Nicole was no ordinary student—there was something about her that was different.
The whip, her ease with it, the way she had moved, all of it hinted at a background that Harvey had not expected to find here, at the Royal Creek Institute.
Little did Harvey know, this encounter was just the beginning of something that would challenge everything he thought he knew about the people in his world, especially Nicole.
And just as the whip had swung past him with the force of a storm, so too would the events that followed knock him off balance, in ways he hadn’t anticipated.
Meanwhile, Nicole, lost in her own thoughts, continued practicing, unaware that this encounter had left a mark on Harvey.
As the day carried on, neither of them knew that their paths were now irrevocably intertwined, bound by more than just fate, but by the mysteries they both held in their own lives.
