Chapter 84
By now, even the most oblivious person would understand that Nicole was not someone to mess with.
The fat girl cursed Raine silently in her mind.
It was Raine who had pushed her to target Nicole in the first place.
Realizing the situation was getting out of control, she quickly turned to Nicole and said, “I’m really sorry.
I lost my mind.
I promise I’ll never do that again.” The other two girls quickly followed suit, offering their apologies and promising that they would never cause trouble for Nicole again.
Nicole gave them a cold glance.
Her goal was simple: to get June and Lulu’s stolen items back and to put a stop to these troublemakers messing with her in the future.
Seeing the girls resign to her demands, she turned to June and Lulu, her eyes silently asking if they were satisfied.
Both of them nodded in agreement.
Not only did they recover their stolen items, but the third-year seniors had also offered them apologies and assurances.
It was beyond what they had expected.
With a satisfied nod, Nicole put away her phone and told June and Lulu, “Let’s go.” As they walked back, Nicole began to think about the situation.
She suspected that these girls were likely being controlled by someone, and it didn’t take much deduction to figure out who the mastermind was.
It had to be Snow or Raine.
They were the only ones who had been targeting her lately.
She scoffed inwardly.
“How annoying,” she muttered.
All she wanted was to go to school in peace, but Raine and Snow just wouldn’t let her.
She couldn’t understand why the two of them had singled her out.
Meanwhile, Lulu was walking behind Nicole, enthusiastically praising her for her quick thinking and heroic actions.
June, for the first time, was listening intently, nodding occasionally as Lulu spoke.
Lulu recalled how Nicole had calmly sat in front of the computer, completely focused as she hacked into the surveillance system.
To Lulu, Nicole seemed like a real tech genius.
None of the so-called techies at school came close to her level.
June, too, was beginning to admire Nicole, especially recalling how calm and composed she had been during the whole ordeal.
June had once been interested in computers, but due to lack of talent, she had given up.
The two girls exchanged a glance as they walked, confused by Nicole’s sudden muttering.
“What’s annoying, Nicole?” Lulu asked, her curiosity piqued.
Nicole glanced at them, not wanting to cause any more trouble for them, and simply replied, “Nothing.”
Lulu looked at Nicole, sensing that she had more on her mind, but didn’t press the issue.
June, understanding that Nicole didn’t want to talk about it, took a small step closer to her.
Nervously, she tugged at the corners of her clothes and whispered, “You helped me with all this.
To show my appreciation, I’d like to invite you to a meal.” Nicole raised an eyebrow.
While June wasn’t the easiest person to approach, she wasn’t a bad person either.
Realizing that June was offering her goodwill, Nicole agreed without hesitation, “Okay, where are we going?”
June felt a wave of relief wash over her when Nicole didn’t reject the invitation.
She hesitated for a moment, gripping her clothes nervously before responding, “Do you have any good suggestions?” She was well aware of Nicole’s high standards when it came to food and quality.
Even though she herself didn’t come from a wealthy family, she had to be cautious about where they went.
She was used to wearing cheaper clothes and didn’t always feel comfortable among the wealthier students at the Royal Creek Institute.
It was why she had buried herself in her studies, avoiding socializing, like a little hedgehog with her defenses up at all times.
Nicole noticed June’s unease and, understanding her situation, casually replied, “Let’s go to the cafeteria at the Royal Creek Institute.
I think the food there is pretty good.”
