Chapter 25
get close to Nicole, but the indifferent attitude was like a slap to her face.
Snow and Raine exchanged glances, clearly uncomfortable with the atmosphere.
They were used to people fawning over them, not being dismissed so easily.
But Nicole was different—she didn’t care about their status or their attempts at gaining her favor.
As Norah continued to talk, mentioning her shopping plans, Nicole simply tuned her out.
Her attention returned to her book, as if the conversation had never happened.
Snow, unable to stand the silence, cleared her throat and tried to speak up.
“Nicole, why are you so distant?” Snow asked, trying to sound casual, but there was a hint of frustration in her voice.
Nicole looked up from her book, her expression unchanged.
“I’m just not interested,” she said calmly, her voice devoid of any malice.
Raine frowned, irritated by Nicole’s lack of reaction to their presence.
“You should know that we’re not like the others.
You can trust us,” she insisted, trying to sound reassuring.
Nicole raised an eyebrow, unimpressed.
“I don’t need to trust anyone.
I’m perfectly fine on my own.” Her bluntness made the sisters fall silent for a moment.
They were used to people bending to their will, but Nicole was an enigma they couldn’t figure out.
Norah, who had been waiting for a chance to strike up a conversation, attempted to lighten the mood again.
“Well, we’re just trying to be friendly.
But it seems you have your own circle.” Her voice carried a note of impatience, clearly not used to being ignored.
Nicole stood up, her chair scraping against the floor.
“I don’t have time for unnecessary socializing.” With that, she turned and walked out of the café, leaving the trio behind.
Outside, her driver was waiting, and as she got into the car, she couldn’t help but smirk at the way she had left them speechless.
It wasn’t that she cared to provoke them, but their constant attempts to get closer to her only made her more determined to keep her distance.
She had her own priorities, and dealing with people like Norah, Snow, and Raine wasn’t one of them.
As the car drove away, Nicole leaned back in her seat, feeling a sense of satisfaction.
For once, she wasn’t letting anyone dictate how she should act or who she should associate with.
The world was her oyster, and she had no intention of letting others interfere with her path.
