Chapter 81
If Nicole remembered correctly, Snow and Raine’s brothers, like her third brother Stanley, were already in their junior year and had been living on campus for a while.
They rarely came home, so it was a bit of a surprise to see such an expensive scooter.
Nicole raised an eyebrow, appreciating the sleekness of the vehicle.
Unlike the girls in Class A, who might not have given it a second glance, scooters were her thing, and she had a soft spot for them.
However, the Riddle family wasn’t fond of them.
Mr.
Riddle Sr.
strictly forbade anyone from riding a scooter to and from school, so it seemed like Preston was daring to break the rules.
Preston wasn’t around at the moment, so Nicole continued walking.
As she did, a guy suddenly emerged from the campus supermarket holding a bottle of sports drink.
He removed his helmet, tilted his head back, and poured the drink down his throat, making his Adam’s apple bob up and down.
His short hair was slicked back, and his face was full of vitality, attracting the admiration of nearby girls who screamed in excitement.
It was Preston.
He heard the commotion and frowned, clearly annoyed.
A large part of why he hated coming to school was the constant attention from the girls who treated him like a zoo animal.
He thought it was ridiculous.
With that thought in mind, he put his helmet back on and headed toward his scooter.
The limited visibility from wearing the helmet caused him to bump into Nicole.
Nicole frowned as she looked up at him, seeing a guy wearing a black helmet.
“Didn’t you keep your eyes on the road while walking?” she scolded.
Preston’s face darkened at the criticism, but when he saw her beauty, his anger dissipated slightly.
Then, he remembered the rumor going around the school forum recently.
She was the one who allegedly bullied Snow.
His expression shifted to one of boldness as he shot back, “Was it me who didn’t pay attention, or was it you who deliberately mixed with the school bully looking for trouble?”
Nicole raised an eyebrow in confusion.
“What do you mean?”
Preston smirked and pressed a button on his helmet to open the black mirror, revealing his handsome face.
“I know I have a lot of fans at school.
I won’t mind if you’re one of them.
But you deliberately bumped into me to create a chance encounter.
Such an old-fashioned tactic.”
Nicole almost laughed at his self-importance.
“I’m your fan? Are you some kind of celebrity? Stop flattering yourself.” Losing her patience, Nicole pushed Preston away with force.
Preston didn’t expect to be pushed so hard.
He stumbled backward and crashed straight into the glass window of the supermarket.
For the first time in his life, he had been so rudely shoved.
“Damn you! How dare you push me!” he yelled, anger flashing in his eyes.
Nicole, completely uninterested in him, turned and walked away without even looking back.
A few people had witnessed the scene, and they were stunned.
It was the first time they had seen Preston so embarrassed.
Some female students whispered indignantly, “Nicole is too cocky.” “She even dared to push Preston.
That’s too much.”
Preston heard the whispers and burned with fury.
He made a mental note of her name, muttering to himself, “Nicole? I will remember you.” Annoyed, he climbed onto his motorcycle, revved the engine, and sped away, the powerful machine’s roar scaring off the girls who had gathered around him.
Nicole, having completely forgotten about the encounter, headed back to the dormitory.
Upon arrival, she was surprised to find the door open.
It was only half-past seven, and Lulu had clearly told her that she preferred to sleep late on weekends and would not get up before 10 a.m.
So, why was the door open? June, however, was an early riser, so it was possible that she had gone to the library and forgotten to close the door.
Nicole stepped into the room and was taken aback to see both Lulu and June there.
Lulu was asleep, while June appeared flustered, searching for something.
Nicole raised an eyebrow and walked to her table.
As she sat down, she noticed something off—someone had clearly been tampering with her bedside table.
She always carried her laptop with her, so she hadn’t locked the drawer when she left.
Upon closer inspection, she saw that several of the books on the table had been shifted around.
