Chapter 54
Jared thought for a moment, then turned the computer toward him, checking each person’s device.
But after scanning everyone’s screen, he found nothing suspicious.
Lucifer really isn’t here.
So where is she? The coordinates can’t be wrong.
“Check the surveillance cameras and identify anyone who used a computer in the café today,” Jared ordered, his frustration mounting.
He was only a step away from catching Lucifer, and now she had slipped through his fingers.
“You got it, Mr.
Johnston.” The waiter immediately used his earpiece to radio the others, and soon everyone was busy with the task at hand.
Meanwhile, Nicole was already on her way back to the dorm.
Since she hadn’t received any reply, she figured the other party must have grown suspicious.
She quickly deleted the proxy account and left the café.
Since leaving the Riddle family, Nicole had been anticipating that the other side would try to trace her coordinates.
To counter this, she had added a new program to the second firewall on her computer, ensuring that even if they found her coordinates, by the time they arrived, she would already be long gone.
It was virtually impossible to catch her by simply tracing her location.
By the time Nicole returned to the dorm, Lulu was hard at work on the exam paper Nicole had given her the day before.
June was absent.
Lulu looked up in frustration as Nicole entered.
“It’s so good to see you, Nicole.
Can you help me solve this equation? I keep getting close, but then it’s never quite right.
It’s driving me crazy!”
Seeing Lulu’s frustration, Nicole raised an eyebrow, took the test paper, and quickly scanned it.
The equation was tricky, but Lulu had missed the key point in the question.
Nicole pointed it out concisely, and with a lightbulb moment, Lulu quickly grabbed a piece of paper and began working through the problem.
Within minutes, she had the answer, looking up at Nicole with admiration.
“Nicole, you’re amazing.”
Nicole simply gave her a low-key look, saying nothing.
Lulu collapsed on the bed, laughing.
Spending time with Nicole had made her realize just how remarkable she was.
Nicole may have seemed distant, but she was far more genuine than many two-faced people.
Lulu looked at Nicole with a serious expression and said, “I’m sure you never bullied Snow.
Someone must have made a mistake.”
Nicole was surprised.
Given the harsh online backlash, she hadn’t expected anyone to believe her, but Lulu’s words were heartwarming.
“Thank you,” Nicole said with a faint smile.
While she didn’t care much about the smear campaign, she appreciated Lulu’s support.
Lulu was touched by Nicole’s gratitude.
She clenched her fist and declared, “Don’t mention it.
We’re friends, and friends trust each other.
With your skills, Snow would have been in the hospital if you’d really hurt her.
I’ll find a way to prove your innocence.” She immediately logged into the forum and prepared to expose the lies.
Nicole couldn’t help but laugh at Lulu’s determined attitude.
Just as she was about to decline Lulu’s offer, her phone vibrated in her pocket.
Her expression turned serious as she took out her phone.
It was an anonymous message:
How can you take a call from Carl? I can’t believe you’re just as senseless as him.
I now suspect you’ve been tracked.
I’ll take Carl to a safe place.
We need to minimize contact for now.
